TANRIMIZ NEREDE?

Jack ve John adında iki kardeş varmış. Bu kardeşler küçük bir kasabada yaşarlarmış. Her ikisi de yaramazlıkta sınır tanımıyorlarmış. Artık öyle bir üne kavuşmuşlar ki, sormayın gitsin. Mahallede kırılan, dökülen, camların, kuyruğuna teneke bağlanan kedilerin, lastiği indirilen arabaların, diğer çocuklarla yapılan kavgaların tüm sorumlusu bu iki afacan kardeşlermiş. Artık daha fazla dayanamayan mahalle sakinleri bu yaramaz çocukların evlerine gelerek anne-babaya:
“Bu çocukların sorunu neyse çözün yoksa biz kaba kuvvet kullanarak çözeceğiz, derler!”
Anne ve baba bu şikâyet olayından sonra kara kara düşünmeye başlarlar. Aradan biraz zaman geçtikten sonra annenin aklına bir fikir gelir ve kocasına dönerek:
“Hayatım, ne yaptık, ne ettiysek çocukları bir türlü bu kötü huylarından vazgeçiremedik. Üstelikte her geçen gün daha da yaramazlaşıyorlar. Diyorum ki, bu çocukları Papaz efendiye götürüp bir göstersen belki onları yola getirir.” der.
Çaresiz kalan baba fikri pek beğenmese de kiliseye gidip yaşananları Papaz efendiye anlatır. Papaz efendi biraz düşündükten sonra adama dönerek:
“Pazar günü öğleden sonra her ikisini de bana yolla.” der.
Adam eve gelir ve çocuklarına:
“Pazar günü öğleden sonra Papaz Efendi ikinizi de görmek istiyor.” der.
Pazar günü öğleden sonra iki kardeşte kiliseye gelirler. Papaz ilk olarak büyük kardeş olan Jack’i yanına kabul eder. Jack korka korka Papazın karşısına oturur. Papaz Jack’in gözlerinin içine bakarak:
“Evladım, Tanrımız nerede?” der.
Jack’in rengi-benzi solar ve ne diyeceğini bilemeden papaza bakakalır. Papaz soruyu tekrar sorar:
“Evladım, Tanrımız nerede?”
Jack daha beter şok olur, boğazında bi düğüm ne yapacağını bilemez. Papaz soruyu daha yüksek ve kızgın bir sesle yineleyince Jack oturduğu yerden fırlayıp odadan çıkarak kardeşinin elini tutar ve birlikte eve kadar arkalarına bakmadan koşarlar. Eve varınca hemen odalarına girip bir yatağın altına saklanırlar. Olanlardan hiçbir şey anlamayan küçük kardeş:
“Neden kaçıyoruz ?” diye sorar.
Büyük kardeşte yanıtlar;
– “İşte şimdi hapı yuttuk, başımız büyük bela da oğlum. Tanrı kaybolmuş, ortada yok, bizden biliyorlar!” demiş.

Hikâye gerçek ya da değil, bunun bir önemi yok. Önemli olan hikâyeden nasıl ders çıkarılacağıdır. Hikâyede bir ailenin afacan iki çocuğunun sorununa bir çözüm aranmış, fakat bulunamamış ve son çare olarak Papaza gidilmiştir. Papaz’da iyi niyetiyle anne ve babaya yardımcı olmak istediği için çocuklara: “Siz yaramazlık yaparken, başkalarının malına zarar verirken, zannediyorsunuz ki sizi kimse görmüyor ve bundan dolayı cezalandırılmayacaksınız. Hâlbuki her şeyi gören ve bilen bir ‘Yaratıcı’ var.” demek, istemiş; ancak çocukların gelişim özelliklerini iyi bilmediği içinde hata yapmıştır.
Korkuya dayalı bir eğitim, hiçbir zaman faydalı olmamış, olamaz ve de olmayacaktır. Özellikle Tanrı, Melek, Şeytan, Peri gibi soyut kavramlarla çocukları korkutarak uslandırmak ise tamamen yanlış bir anlayıştır.
Unutmayalım ki, çocukları bedensel ve zihinsel açıdan korkutarak onlara hiçbir şekilde yardımcı olamayız. Çocuklar genel olarak dokuz on yaşlarına kadar soyut kavramları anlayamazlar. Bu konu da dikkatli olunmalıdır.
