ÇOCUK VE MOTİVASYON (GÜDÜLENME)

Asimo, Japonya’da yaşayan, derslerinde son derece başarılı ve judoya da hayli meraklı dokuz yaşlarında bir öğrencidir. Talihsiz bir trafik kazası sonucunda, sol kolunu kaybeder ve uzunca bir süre judoya ara vermek zorunda kalır. Bu esnada Asimo’yu en çok üzen şey, judo derslerine devam edememek ve ileride ideallerini süsleyen ünlü bir judo ustası olmaktan uzaklaşmaktır. Bu durum küçük çocukta gitgide bir problem hâlini almaya başlar. Bu durumdan aile de rahatsızdır, ancak yapacak bir şey bulamazlar. Umutsuzluk ve hayal kırıklığı çocukta, yavaş yavaş depresyon belirtilerinin görülmesine sebep olur. Ailenin tedirginliği de iyice artar. Sonuçta çocuğun babası Japonya’daki en iyi judo hocalarından birine giderek durumu anlatır. Judo hocası durumun ciddi olduğunu anlar ve babasından, yarın çocukla beraber gelmesini ister.
Çocuk bu durumu öğrenince müthiş bir sevinç duyar. Ertesi gün babasıyla beraber antrenman salonun yolunu tutar. Judo hocasının yanına geldiklerinde, judo hocası, çocuğu tanıyabilmek için birkaç soru sorar. Aldığı cevaplardan memnundur. Çünkü çocuğun verdiği cevaplar, hâlâ ideallerinden bir şey kaybetmediğini, hedefine ulaşmak adına müthiş bir azim ve kararlılığa sahip olduğunu göstermektedir.
Judo hocası çocukla özel olarak ilgilenir, onu rahatlatmaya çalışır ve bir hareket göstererek o günkü derslerinin bittiğini söyler. Çocuk da babası da şaşırmıştır. Eve dönerler. Ertesi gün çocuk gelir ve Judo hocası genel kondisyon hareketlerinden sonra, dünkü hareketi gösterir ve çocuktan gidene kadar aynı hareketi çalışmasını ister. Çocuk denileni harfiyen yapar. İkinci gün, üçüncü gün, dördüncü gün…, hep aynıdır. Çocuk aynı hareketi çalışır ve eve döner. Aradan birkaç ay geçince, çocuk aynı hareketi yapmaktan iyice sıkılır ve durumu hocasına bildirir. Judo hocası sabırlı olmasını ve dediklerini yapmaya devam etmesini söyler. Asimo hocasını dinler ve çalışmalara devam eder.
Aradan yaklaşık olarak beş yıl geçmiştir ve Asimo bıkmadan usanmadan judo derslerine gider. Antrenman salonunda yaptıkları hep aynıdır: Genel kondisyon hareketlerini çalıştıktan sonra, hocasının kendisine göstermiş olduğu o özel hareketi yapmaya devam etmek.
Gelecek ay ülke çapında büyük bir judo turnuvası düzenlenecektir. Judo hocası Asimo’yu turnuvaya götürme kararı alır. Durumu Asimo’ya bildirince, genç judocu sevinçten havalara uçar. Turnuva günü gelip çatar. Turnuvanın ilk günü genç judocu rakibini kısa süre içinde yener. Derken ikincisi, üçüncüsü… Genç judocu yarı finale kadar çıkar ama bu duruma kendisi de inanmaz. Yarı finalde kendisini zorlu bir rakip beklemektedir. Hocasına yarı finalde ne yapacağını sorar. Hocasının cevabı gayet nettir:
“Buraya gelene kadar ne yaptıysan aynısını yap!”
Genç judocu denileni yapar, rakibini yener ve final maçına adını yazdırır. Finalde rakibi son beş yılın turnuva şampiyonudur. Asimo tedirgindir ama hocasına bir şey sormaz. Çünkü alacağı cevabı tahmin etmektedir: “Buraya gelene kadar ne yaptıysan aynısını yap!”
Finalde de rakibini yener ve doğruca hocasının yanına giderek:
“Hocam, bu başarıyı nasıl elde ettiğime bir türlü anlamadım. Benim bir kolum eksik, evet kondisyonum iyi ama bildiğim yalnızca bir hareket var,” der.
Hocası gülümseyerek talebesine şöyle cevap verir:
“Bak evlâdım, öncelikle sen bu harekete beş yıldan beri çalışıyorsun. O kadar çalıştın ki bu hareketi senden daha iyi yapabilen kimse yok. İkinci olarak da o hareketin tek bir karşı hareketi vardır. Onun için de rakibinin senin sol kolundan tutması gerekir.

Motivasyon, bir kişiyi belli bir amaca ulaşmak için harekete geçiren güçtür. İhtiyaçları belirlemek, bunlar üzerinde odaklanmak ve harekete geçmek için pozitif bir bakış açısına sahip olmak motivasyonu artırmak için gerekli temel süreçlerdir. Bir başka deyişle, motivasyon kişiyi harekete geçirmektir. Coşkusunu artırmak, gücüne güç katmaktır.

Motivasyonun sağlanmasında ailenin olumlu rol oynayabilmesinin ilk şartı, çocuğu anlamaktır. Bunun olabilmesinin yolu da aile içinde “olumlu bir iletişim ortamı” kurulmasıyla olur. Olumlu bir iletişim ortamının olduğu ailelerde, aile üyeleri birbirini tanır (zayıf ve güçlü yönleriyle), olduğu gibi kabul eder, hiçbir koşula bağlı olmaksızın sever ve birbirine güvenir. Böyle bir ortamda yetişen çocuk, sevildiğini, kendisine güven duyulduğunu, anlaşıldığını bilir bu da ona güç verir.

Çocukları Motive Etmenin Yolları:
• Anne baba olarak kendi tutum ve davranışlarınızı gözlemleyin. Çocuğunuzla ilgili sormanız gereken en önemli sorulardan biri ona yeteri kadar zaman ayırıp ayırmadığınızdır. Çocuğunuza ihtiyacı olan zamanı ayırmamanız onun olumsuz bile olsa ilgi arayışına girmesine neden olabilir.
• Çocuğunuza onun başarısız olma ihtimalinin sizi fazlasıyla rahatsız etmesinden dolayı farkında olmadan “yetersizsin” mesajı vermemeye özen gösterin.
• Çocuğunuzdan konu her ne olursa olsun “mükemmel” olmasını beklemeyin.
• Çocuğunuza yapması gerek şeyi iletmek için bir ya da iki kelimeden oluşan kısa komutlar verin. Uzun konuşmalar, sonu gelmeyen nasihatler ve birden çok mesaj içeren cümleler çocuğunuzun söylediklerinize yoğunlaşmasını engeller.
• Sürekli ne düşündüğünüzü söylemek yerine çocuğunuza samimi ve içten duygularınızı yansıtın. “ödevlerin yapılmadı, sen oyun oynayıp duruyorsun” yerine “ödevlerini yapmak yerine zamanını boşuna harcamana üzülüyorum” demek daha etkilidir.
• Çocuğunuzu motive etmek için destekleyici, yüreklendirici bir yaklaşım sergileyin.
• Çocuğunuzun minik başarılarını asla küçümsemeyin. Bu, kendisini gerçekten farkında olduğunuzu çocuğunuzun anlamasına yardımcı olacaktır.
• Çocuklarınızı, kendi değer yargılarınızın ve sizin bir kopyanız haline getirmek, hayata ve dünyaya sizin bakış açınızla bakmasını beklemek onların motivasyon eksikliği yaşamalarının sebeplerini anlamanıza engel olabilir.
